President proposes to expand the composition of the Security Council
The President of Georgia proposes to expand the composition of the National Security Council. Giorgi Margvelashvili introduced his vision on the structure and the mission of the National Security Council to some Georgian lawmakers, foreign diplomats and political experts today. According to the president, the National Security Council should have more permanent members and they should be the parliament chairperson, the chairpersons of the defence and security and foreign relations committees of the parliament and also the Chief of Staff of the Georgian Armed Forces. `We think that the presence of the representatives of three branches of the government - the president, the cabinet and the parliament to this constitutional body, will be optimal... therefore, the National Security Council will institutionally provide the cooperation of the president with the government and the parliament,` the President announced at the briefing held after the meeting today.
