European MPs calls on EU parliaments to ratify association agreement
European lawmakers call on the EU member state parliaments to accelerate the ratification of the Association Agreement signed by the European Union with the three post-Soviet nations, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine. Two European MPs, Bernd Lange and Mr. Elmar Brok released a corresponding statement yesterday.
`With respect to the Association Agreements between the EU and, respectively, Ukraine, Moldova and Georgia, we engage ourselves to facilitate a speedy consent procedure within the European Parliament and we call on the Member States to ratify those agreements without delay. In this connection we call on the Commission to effectively assist Ukraine, Moldova and Georgia with the provisional application of the Association Agreements by all means available`, they wrote.
Currently, the aforementioned agreement has been ratified by the parliaments of four European states - Lithuania, Latvia, Bulgaria and Romania.
