22.10.12 15:51
Candidate for Prime Minister Bidzina Ivanishvili is prepared to listen to the arguments of the civil society regarding the candidate of the IDPs minister Davit Darakhvelidze, whose racist and xenophobic statements made during the pre-election campaign, caused the protest of non-governmental organizations. Ivanishvili says he is prepared for consultations with NGOs regarding the candidate. Davit Darakhvelidze was the governor of the Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti Region in the Shevardnadze`s government. On October 19, 2012, several non-governmental organizations called on Bidzina Ivanishvili to remove Darakhvelidze`s candidacy due to his racist statements. `Formation and reinforcement of civil society is my final goal. Therefore, I will take into consideration the criticism and position of the civil society in case it is based on firm arguments and evidence,` Ivanishvili said, causing the sympathy of NGOs, who said his constructive approach to public criticism should be really hailed.
