Eleven NGOs send address to Ivanishvili about Darakhvelidze
23.10.12 10:38
Representatives of eleven non-governmental organizations have sent a special address to the leader of the Georgian Dream Coalition, Bidzina Ivanishvili after holding meeting with the candidate for the minister of IDPs and resettlement, Davit Darakhvelidze. The candidate was slammed for his racist and xenophobic statements during his pre-election campaign, which turned out a reason of alarm for non-governmental organizations, who in their turn had addressed Ivanishvili to think more about his appointment as the minister. NGOs met with Darakhvelidze yesterday and prepared a special address to the future prime minister, hoping that `political figures will treat their public statements with more attention and provide the defense of equality norms`. Darakhvelidze has said he made inaccurate mistakes and it was misinterpreted by media afterwards.
