Ministers begin to work after assuming offices

26.10.12 12:12

Members of the Cabinet of Minister begin to work in Tbilisi today.  The first session of the cabinet was held in Kutaisi in a few hours after it was approved by the parliament yesterday. Part of the ministers plan to go to the ministries today, others say they will do this on Monday. They will meet with the staffs of their ministries.

Sozar Subari, who is the Minister of Corrections and Legal Assistance, was one of the first members of the cabinet who went to the ministry this morning. The first thing he did after entering his office was that he removed the photo of President Saakashvili from the wall behind the minister`s chair. He even explained the motive of his decision.

`This person has created the ugly system, which we have to fight today. The prison is the prison inside the larger prison, the country and this system should be deleted from out minds, we should remove this load from our shoulders as well as its symbols should be removed from our offices. Anyway, I don`t think it`s normal to have photos of any persons on the walls. I am not going to hand anybody`s photo in my office,` Subari said.

The minister has also voiced his decision to undertake structural changes inside the ministry. He also said the salary policy should be also reviewed.
