IDPs and vulnerable families have intruded into several buildings in Tbilisi, Zugdidi and Poti last night. Members of about 15 vulnerable families and several IDPs occupied rooms in a building situated on Chikobava Street in Tbilisi. These families demand from the government to provide legalization of lodgings to them. They complain about gravest conditions, due to which they cannot afford to rent apartments.
The building on N29 Chikobava Street is in state possession and it has been handed over to NGO Parents` Bridge for temporary use.
IDPs intruded in the former building of the Zugdidi Regional Hospital too. The building is the possession of the Block Georgia Company. IDPs have also complained about their poor conditions, saying they cannot pay rents. Block Georgia management has already applied to the police to drive out the IDPs from the building.
Several vulnerable families have tried to occupy rooms in the office of the Experimental Consultation Center in Poti too; however, the director of the office prevented them from doing so. The vulnerable families say they were given licenses by Darejan Tskvitaria, the member of the Poti Sakrebulo (City Assembly) to take rooms in that building.
Tskvitaria is at the same time the head of the NGO Women`s Club. Office administration says the building is on the balance of the economic ministry.
