What did senators say about Saakashvili?!

What the senators said at the meeting with the leader of the Georgian Dream Coalition Bidzina Ivanishvili has become a topical question after Ivanishvili spoke about the details of the meeting in his speech before his supporters in the Kareli town. Ivanishvili said the senators were in Georgia to demonstrate support to Georgia and not to Saakashvili personally.
`Today the Americans also realize who they have to deal with and they say that they did not arrive here to support him (Saakashvili), trust me. McCain, whom Saakashvili called his friend, did not want to hear his name today and reiterated several times that he was here to support Georgia.
The Senators were asked by journalists if what Ivanishvili said was true. John McCain and Jo Lieberman answered the question before their departure from Georgia.
`I don`t know anything about that, but I know that this will be a free and fair election and this is what we want to see ensured. We believe that the progress that has been made will be remembered by Georgian people,` McCain said.
Joe Lieberman said what Ivanishvili had said was untrue.
`That is absolutely untrue. Nothing like that was ever said about Saakashvili. Secondly, although we are not supporting here any candidate or any party, it is simply a matter of fact that I speak for myself> I know Saakashvili for years, we work together and we see the progress and transformation in Georgia,` Senator Lieberman said.
