Georgian Defense Minister presents First Deputy Chief of JS

Staff changes have taken place in the ministry of defense of Georgia. Minister Irakli Alasania presented today Brigadier-General Vakhtang Kapanadze on the post of the First Deputy Chief of Joint Staff of the Georgian Armed Forces.
Since 2008 Kapanadze has served as Deputy Chief of Foreign Intelligence Special Service of Georgia. During his career he occupied various high-ranking positions in the General Staff of Georgia. In 2004 he was appointed as the Chief of General Staff.
The newly appointed First Deputy Chief of Staff has a working experience in diplomatic and scientific spheres as well. During 2007-2008 he was Envoy Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to Poland.
As to the military education, BG Vakhtang Kapanadze attended the College of Strategic Studies and Defense Economics at the George C. Marshall Center in Germany, the Tactical Faculty at the Ukraine Armed Forces National Academy and U.S. Army War College.
Brigadier-General Vakhtang Kapanadze is awarded with the Order of Honor and Vakhtang Gorgasali III Rank Order.
Acting Chief of Joint Staff General Giorgi Kalandadze remains on his position. But after the defense minister presents the candidate of Vakhtang Kapanadze for the position of the head of Joint Staff and the president signs his appointment, Giorgi Kalandadze intends to go to aboard to take up a special course for improving his qualification.
