26.10.12 11:49

Over 80 persons from vulnerable families, who rallied outside the Tbilisi municipal government`s office yesterday, moved to the tax department of the Nadzaladevi district of Tbilisi late last night and occupied several floors of the building illegally. They are demanding apartments and normal living conditions from the Tbilisi government.
The administration of the department called for the police to take the protestors out of the building as very important documents were held in the office.
Newly appointed minister of IDPs Davit Darakhvelidze went to the tax department office late last night to look into the details of the problem. He said the Tbilisi government and the city assembly should be held accountable for the conditions, in which the vulnerable families live now.

These vulnerable families decided to hold protest with th demands of providing them with lodgings, after they learnt about a new project of the Tbilisi goevrnment and the government of Switzerland, which purchased apartments for 24 vulnerable families. The protestors were objecting to the criteria acording to which their social category was determined and demanded handing over these 24 apartments to them.

The protestors left the building after the municipal officials gave them guarantees to provide them with apartments.
