Georgia`s new defense minister meets with staff
Georgia`s new Defense Minister Irakli Alasania held his first meeting with heads of the ministry and the united staff today introducing them his plan for developing the defense field in Georgia.
The defense minister intends carrying out certain structural changes and maintaining the available resource in the ministry that was created under the former minister.
Mr. Alasania said public and media control should strengthen and parliamentary supervision set on the ministry for more transparency.
"We should have a mobile and rapid response mobile army, which would meet all the challenges we are facing because of our regional security. Our main value, as we have repeatedly said, will be a soldier as well as creating for him all kinds of opportunities and conditions. We will use the legacy of human resources that has been left here. Some problems have also been left here - there is a deficiency of about Gel 113 million in the budget of the defense ministry. My working group has already worked out considerations for overcoming the crisis", he said.
