New model of examinations presented

29.10.12 12:33

Ministry of Education of Georgia and the National Assessment and Examination Center has elaborated a new model of school examinations and presented it to media today. Minister Giorgi  Margvelashvili and NAEC director Maia Miminoshvili briefed today to explain the new model to the society. They said the pupils of the 11-th and 12th forms will have to pass examinations in the subjects, which they have already completed. For example, the pupils of the 11-th grade, who complete four subjects - physics, chemistry, biology and geography, will be able to pass tests in these subjects at the end of the academic year. Those who are discontented with the results of the tests will be allowed to pass tests in the same subjects along with four other examinations in foreign language, Georgian language and literature, mathematics and history after finishing the school, which will be obligatory for the final grader pupils.
Due to the specifics of the new model of examinations, the school completing and entrance exams will be conducted at schools in 2013.
As an exception, the pupils who study at the 11-th form in 2012-2013 academic years will be able to pass tests in four completed subjects not in May but in October in order to prepare for the examinations better.
The school tests will be conducted according to CAT model, elaborated by the NAEC.
The entrance exams will be conducted in July as usual.
