Public celebration of Rustavi city underway

Festivities dedicated to the annual celebration of the city of Rustavi in Kvemo Kartli Region are underway. Different events are taking place at the public celebration in the city.
About 500 participants ran a marathon through the central square of the city today.
Concerts, exhibitions are taking place in Rustavi all day long, until the evening, when a gala concert is planned to take place in the centre of the city.
The public festivities started with putting a symbolic capsule in the foundation of a sport palace construction of which is expected to be completed by the next celebration of Rustavi.
Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs, together with governor of the region symbolically poured concrete into the foundation of the construction.
Construction of the new sports complex started on demand of local sportsmen. The hall will be intended for about 3000 people.
About 8 thousand people were today awarded as honorable citizens of Rustavi. They received special diplomas and presents. All of them are prominent representatives of different spheres.
Deputy Education Minister and Governor of Kvemo Kartli Region also awarded successful pupils of public schools of Rustavi today. A total of 70 schoolchildren were awarded. 10th graders received PCs.
After the awarding ceremony, the schoolchildren were invited to the performance at Rustavi Theatre.
