Discussion of Ivanishvili`s case postponed for June 21

15.06.12 13:52

The discussion of the case on granting Georgian citizenship to the leader of the opposition coalition Georgian Dream, Bidzina Ivanishvili, has been postponed for June 21st at the Tbilisi Appeals Court. The judge said the consideration of the case would be continued after the leader of the coalition presents sufficient evidence to the court.
`the process has been delayed for five months, while the civil procedures legislation gives two month deadline to courts for discussing such cases, unless it is a specific case; but this is not a particularly difficult case,` Lawyer Shalva Tadumadze said.
Another lawyer, Archil Kbilashvili says the Appeals Court would leave the ruling of the first instance court unchanged and therefore, they would appeal to the Supreme Court and only afterwards, to the European Court of Human Rights.
