Georgian family returns from Russia after 27 years

The family of Ilia Japaridze, who was killed on ethnic grounds in Moscow three years ago, returns to Georgia after living there for 27 years. The family says the murder case of their son was improperly investigated; however, they are going to do their best for punishing the killers properly.
Ilia Japaridze was killed in 2009 for his Georgian ethnicity. His parents say he was assaulted and beaten up to death by the members of the anti-fascist organization Antifa. The murder suspect was facing life sentence, but the crime was re-qualified and he was finally sent to prison for ten years.
The family asserts the qualification of the criminal case was intentionally changed in order to prevent the family appeal the court ruling in the European Court of Human Rights for racism and pressure on the ground of ethnicity.
Attorneys of the UNM secretary general Vano Merabishvili and president`s representative to the Kakheti Region will appeal the ruling of the Kutaisi city court by 3 p.m. today.
