Opposition claims so-called elections fraud in Abkhazia

13.12.09 17:49

Abkhazia will never be a part of Georgia again, despite the positions of EU and US, - the president of the occupational regime of Georgia`s breakaway region of Abkhazia said at the press conference held in Sukhumi on Saturday. Sergei Bagapsh said, he, as a leader, is concerned that EU countries as well as US have ignored the so-called presidential elections held in occupied Abkhazia, although he does not pay much attention to it.

The Central Election Commission of Georgia`s occupied region of Abkhazia has named Sergei Bagapsh winner of the so-called presidential elections, while the opposition claims the election totally fraud. Ex-Vice Speaker Raul Khajimba demands re-count of votes and intends to appeal against the results of the elections. In case if his demands are not met, the opposition leader, threatens with organizing large-scale rallies in the streets on Sukhumi.

As the Central Election Commission of occupied Abkhazia reports, 59,4% of voters have voted for Sergei Bagapsh, while 15,4% of voters have supported ex-Vice Speaker Raul Khajimba.
