Georgian Judo Federation`s executive committee assembled today to discuss the misbehavior of four Georgian wrestlers. A shameful incident occurred in Baku, Azerbaijan a few days ago, where a Georgian wrestler stole a cell-phone during a tournament. Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs, Lado Vardzelashvili was attending the session today. Minister said the sanctions against sportsmen, who violate elementary rules of discipline, would be very strict.
`The syndrome of un-punishment was very strong in Georgian sport for years, and we have its outcome today - numerous violations, abuse, clashes, thefts, match fixing and etc. Very many facts of misbehavior have been confirmed. We have taken a decision to reinforce discipline and impose strict sanctions against such sportsmen, otherwise, we will no longer have sports in Georgia,` the Minister said.
The president of the Georgian Olympic Committee, Gia Natsvlishvili said such facts were very shameful for Georgian sports and it was also very hard to take proper decision.
`It is very hard to take a decision on life ban of sportsmen, but everybody should know, that sportsmen are sportsmen and they should do their best to bring fame to the country and not to tarnish its reputation,` Gia Natsvlishvili said and confirmed the fact of theft.
