Georgia earns four medals at European Wrestling Championship
20.09.11 10:45
Georgian junior wrestlers earned four medals at the European Wrestling Championship held in Belgium`s city of Lommel on September 18-19. The team returned with one gold, two silver and one bronze medals from the championship, missing a chance to become the leading team. On the third day of the three-day tournament, Levan Matiashvili lost the final against the Danish sportsman Daniel Alerstofer due to one warning he got from the referees. If he won the final, Georgia`s national team will lead in the tournament, but with current scores, we took the third position after Russia and Armenia. Georgian national team had 16 wrestlers at the European Championship. Lasha Shavdatuashvili in the 66-kg category became the Europe`s champion., Matiashvili and Leri Chelidze earned silver medals in the 55 kg category and Mikheil Chokheli earned his bronze medal to the team in the 73 kg-category.
