OSCE High Commissioner visits Georgia

OSCE High Commissioner for National Minorities, Knut Vollebaek is visiting Georgia to monitor the conditions of the national minorities and the situation in Georgia`s occupied regions.
High Commissioner has been holding meetings with the members of the Georgian government, representatives of national minorities and the NGOs. The diplomat has already met with the minister of reintegration Eka Tkeshelashvili.
This is the scheduled visit of the OSCE High Commissioner to Georgia; however, this time the diplomat cannot travel to occupied regions.
Knut Vollebaek emphasized the need of international monitoring in Georgia`s occupied regions, which would monitor protection of human rights beyond the occupation line.
European Diplomat plans another visit to Georgia this spring. Within the next visit Knut Vollebaek will meet with the representatives of the puppet regimes and afterwards, prepare recommendations, for the report, which will be handed over to the OSCE permanent council in Vienna.
