Christian Democratic Movement of Georgia has commented on the concerns of the Patriarchate of Georgian Orthodox Church, which said earlier that the negotiations between the Georgian and Turkish sides regarding the restoration of Georgia`s historic monuments on the territory of Turkey and rehabilitation of mosques on the territory of Georgia was conducted by rough violation of constitutional agreement between the government of Georgia and the Patriarchate.
The members of the parliamentary minority believe that the patriarchate should be in course of any negotiation regarding Georgia`s monasteries as the proprietor of each religious monument in and outside Georgia.
Christian Democrats say the positions and the recommendations of the patriarchate should be considered during the restoration of mosques and Georgian historic monuments.
Ministry of Culture has released a special statement in this regards today. The statement says the patriarchate of Georgia and the society interested in the care of the cultural heritage of Georgia were in course of the details of the negotiations between Georgian and Turkish sides, which were underway during the past few years. The statement says the last meeting with religious authorities in the patriarchate was held two days ago and reported the details of the agreement.
