Georgian Speaker, Israeli Prime Minister meet in Tel Aviv

Chairman of Georgian Parliament and Israeli Prime Minister held a meeting in Tel Aviv on Wednesday. Davit Bakradze and Benjamin Netanyahu discussed all the significant political and economic issues in the relations between the two countries.

Davit Bakradze is visiting Israel on the personal invitation of Knesset Chairman Reuven Rivlin.

Davit Bakradze was met with solemn ceremony in Tel Aviv. He was invited to the Knesset, where the Georgian national anthem was performed. During the visit to the parliament, Mr. Bakradze made major political statements concerning political and economic relations between Georgia and Israel.

Chairman of teh Knesset also made significant statements. In his speech, Reuven Rivlin spoke about the Jvari Monastery (Georgian mohnument located on teh territory of Isarel) and centuries-old relations between the two countries.

"Not far from here, in the gorge, which is called the Jvari Gorge, lived Georgian Poet Shota Rustaveli and maybe he wrote his epic poem The Knight in the Panther`s Skin right there. Dear friends, after Georgia declared its independence, the Georgia-Israel relations changed this positive change especially increased under presidency of the leader of the Roe Revolution Mikheil Saakashvili. Georgia today has a democratic government, an active parliament and has deep relations in economy and other fields", he said.
