GFF receives letter from FIFA

14.06.12 11:18

FIFA has replied on the letter sent by the Georgian Football Federation to FIFA president Joseph Blatter on May 25. In it, GFF administration demanded explanations on the illegitimate desire of the Abkhazian puppet regime to host international tournaments in Georgia`s occupied region.
Georgian Football Federation expressed its firm position that Georgian side entirely rules out entry of the breakaway region in FIFA jurisdiction and participation of this region in the international tournaments held in the aegis of FIFA.
FIFA authorities have responded to the information provided by the GFF. The letter sent by the FIFA Secretary General Jerome Valcke says that no official letter has been received in the organization from the Abkhazian puppet government about hosting international tournaments.
`We confirm that to date, our services have not received any request relating to the possibility of the `Republic of Abkhazia` to play international friendly matches against FIFA member associations. In this regard, we inform you that any petition in relation to the faculty of non-FIFA affiliates to make sporting contacts with FIFA members is assessed and considered in a strictly individual basis. The aforementioned being clarified, we stress that the situation surrounding the Football Federation of Kosovo is in any circumstance very different from the one described in your correspondence and does not constitute a precedent for any other case,` the letter said.
