Famous Georgian actor buried in pantheon of public figures
Legend of Georgian Movie and Theatre, famous actor Ramaz Chkhikvadze was buried today at Didube Pantheon of Writers and Public Figures.
As the number of people wishing to enter the Rustaveli Theatre and pay tributes to their favourite actor was very big, Chkhikvadze`s body was taken to the pantheon one hour later than scheduled.
Hundreds of people attended the legendary actor`s funeral, who gave their last honours to him with applauding on the way to the pantheon.
Ramaz Chkhikvadze was buried beside his wife, Natasha Chkhikvadze, who died two months ago.
Ramaz Chkhikvadze, during his 50-year career, played unforgettable roles in Georgian theatre and movie.
The funeral rites started for him in Rustaveli Theatre since morning today. In the hall of the theatre, the actor`s photos and the clothes he wore in different performances were exhibited.
The world-known actor died after long illness at the age of 83.
His last role Ramaz Chkhikvadze played in director Nana Jorjadze`s movie "The Rainbow Maker".
