Dozen families affected by heavy rain in Eastern Georgia

A dozen families were affected by the heavy rain as it poured down on the town of Kareli in Eastern Georgia on Saturday night. As reported, the heavy rain flooded homes of 12 families in five different streets in the town.
Fire and rescue brigades worked several hours to pump the water out of the yards.
Representatives of the local authorities promised assistance to the affected families.
National flag of Georgia was lowered at Georgia`s office of the Council of Europe on the day, when the nation mourns the death of three Georgian soldiers in Afghanistan. Foreign Minister Maia Panjikidze attended the ceremony.
Court will discuss the cases of eight persons arrested with the charges of being connected to a criminal network abroad. Four other defendants were already sent to custody for two months within the pre-trial detention. The hearing was held late last night
President of Georgia has declared May 16 a Day of Mourning for the three Georgian soldiers who were killed in a combined attack on Shirgaza military base in Afghanistan three days ago. Flags have been lowered on every official office since the morning.
