Statement by Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia

Russian Foreign Ministry has released a statement about the telephone conversation between foreign minister Sergey Lavrov and the co-chairperson of the Geneva international negotiations on Georgia-Russia issues.
The official statement says that the conversation was initiated by Philippe Lefort. The EU special envoy expressed his concerns regarding the decision of the Abkhazian puppet regime to declare EUMM head Anjei Tishkevich as persona non-grata. Philippe Lefort said this decision might seriously affect Geneva negotiations.
According to the Russian MFA, Mr. Lavrov told the EU envoy that the issue should be discussed with the representatives of the Sokhumi government as the fully fledged participants of the Geneva negotiations.
